What's Covered

Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) restores testosterone to optimal levels in men whose natural production has declined. This package covers the full arc of responsible TRT initiation: assessment, prescription, level stabilisation, safety monitoring, and protocol refinement.

011. TRT Initial Consultation (50 minutes)

A specialist, doctor-led assessment covering your full hormonal symptom picture, medical history, family risk, previous treatments, fertility considerations, and your goals. Your doctor will explain your TRT options in detail and make a personalised treatment recommendation. Where assessment supports it, a prescription may be initiated at this appointment.

022. TRT Follow-up Consultation (30 minutes)

A structured clinical review, scheduled 6–8 weeks after starting treatment. Your doctor reviews your testosterone and safety blood markers — including haematocrit, oestradiol, and PSA — assesses your symptom response, and refines your protocol accordingly.

03Full symptom and medical history review

Detailed account of symptoms like fatigue, low libido, erectile dysfunction, poor sleep, and loss of motivation. We review your full personal and family history, including cardiovascular and prostate health, which are clinically relevant to TRT prescribing decisions.

04Assessment of underlying causes

We assess whether your testosterone picture reflects primary testicular failure, secondary dysfunction, or a reversible factor such as obesity or sleep apnoea. This distinction matters for treatment planning.

05Discussion of TRT options and fertility

Explanation of TRT formulations (gels, injections) and their practical differences. If you have current or future fertility considerations, we explore alternatives that preserve fertility, such as hCG.

Total saving of £•• versus booking separately (Initial Consultation £••• + Follow-up Consultation £••• = £••• if booked individually).

Difference

The EGA Approach to TRT

At EGA, TRT is a clinical intervention managed with structured monitoring. This package ensures that both the assessment and the first safety review are in place before you begin.

Assessment and stabilisation

The initial consultation identifies where you are; the follow-up confirms the protocol is working as intended and checks critical safety markers. Both are essential for responsible care.

Symptom and biochemistry integration

We assess the full hormonal picture (Free T, SHBG, LH, FSH, Prolactin) alongside symptoms to ensure treatment is clinically indicated and optimised.

Safety-first protocol

Regular monitoring of haematocrit and PSA is non-negotiable at EGA. This package builds that safety check into your initial pathway.

Questions

Common Questions

What testosterone level qualifies for TRT?

Total testosterone is one data point. Free testosterone is often more clinically relevant. EGA assesses the full hormonal picture alongside symptoms, which may support treatment in men whose NHS GP would not prescribe based on total testosterone alone.

Do I need blood tests before the initial consultation?

Not necessarily. Your doctor will assess what testing is required during the consultation. If you have recent testosterone or hormone results, please bring them.

My GP says my testosterone is normal. Could it still be causing my symptoms?

Yes. 'Normal' means within a laboratory reference range. A total testosterone that is technically in range may still represent a clinically significant decline for you individually, especially if SHBG is elevated.

Does TRT affect fertility?

Yes. TRT reduces or stops sperm production during treatment. This effect is usually reversible, but recovery cannot be guaranteed. Alternatives that preserve fertility may be appropriate and will be discussed.

What are the risks of TRT?

Key considerations include elevated haematocrit (requiring monitoring) and PSA changes. Current evidence does not support a meaningful cardiovascular risk from properly monitored TRT. Your risk profile will be discussed in full.

How long before I notice results?

Energy, mood, and libido typically show improvement within 4–6 weeks. Changes in muscle composition and bone density occur over months. Full assessment requires 3–6 months.

How far apart are the two appointments?

Typically 6–8 weeks, with TRT initiated and blood testing completed in between. This allows levels to stabilise before the follow-up review.

Are blood tests included in the pack price?

Blood tests are not included in the consultation pack price and are charged separately. Your doctor will advise on the specific tests required.
