Not a Filler.A Collagen Rebuilder.

Juläine is a poly-L-lactic acid biostimulator that works progressively within the skin to restore facial volume and structural integrity — by encouraging your own body to rebuild the collagen it has lost.

What's Covered

Juläine (JULÄINE™ by Nordberg Medical, Sweden) is a CE-marked injectable biostimulator based on poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) — a biocompatible, biodegradable synthetic polymer from the alpha-hydroxy-acid family with a long and well-established safety record in medical use. PLLA has been used in dissolvable sutures for decades; its application as a collagen stimulator in aesthetic medicine represents a different delivery format of the same well-understood material. Unlike dermal fillers, which add volume directly by placing a substance in the tissue that provides immediate fullness, Juläine works by triggering your skin's own regenerative response. The PLLA microspheres act as a biological signal to fibroblasts — the cells that produce collagen — stimulating them to produce new collagen around the microspheres over the weeks and months following treatment. As the PLLA biodegrades, it is replaced by the collagen your own body has generated. The volume that develops is your own collagen.

01Volume restoration — midface, cheeks, temples

Midface hollowing, cheek deflation, and temple loss — Juläine progressively rebuilds the collagen scaffold rather than placing a gel in the tissue. The result develops over months and represents your own structural collagen.

02Nasolabial folds and marionette lines

Deepening folds caused by volume descent rather than fixed tissue changes respond well to PLLA's structural collagen induction. The progressive improvement looks consistent with natural facial change over time.

03Jawline definition and lower face laxity

Loss of jawline sharpness and early jowl formation — addressed through progressive collagen rebuilding rather than direct volume placement. Chin and lower face laxity also respond to PLLA biostimulation.

04Neck and décolletage

Skin quality and early laxity off the face — Juläine improves structural integrity in areas where natural-looking restoration matters and where conventional filler placement is less appropriate.

05Facial changes after GLP-1 weight loss

Rapid weight loss on GLP-1 weight-loss medicines can produce facial volume loss and skin laxity that does not recover on its own. Rather than replacing lost volume with filler — which can produce an overfilled appearance in a face that has already changed structurally — Juläine progressively rebuilds the collagen scaffold, restoring structural integrity in a way consistent with the gradual nature of the change. The aim is a natural-looking result rather than an obviously corrected one.

06Session packages

1 vial: £•,••• · 2 sessions: £•,••• (£••• per session) · 3 sessions: £•,••• (£••• per session) · 4 sessions: £•,••• (£••• per session). The number of sessions and vials required depends on your facial anatomy, degree of volume loss, and areas being treated. Your clinician will advise at consultation.

Results typically last up to 2 years. A course of sessions is recommended to build an optimal collagen response — the gradual nature of the improvement is what makes the result look natural rather than corrective.

Audience

Who It's For

Juläine is a well-suited choice for clients wanting natural-looking, progressive restoration rather than immediate volume addition.

  • Facial volume loss — midface hollowing, descended cheeks, loss of jawline definition — wanting natural-looking restoration
  • Facial changes after weight loss on GLP-1 medication — wanting a regenerative approach to restoring facial quality
  • Previously had dermal fillers and want a more natural, progressive alternative
  • 40s–60s with moderate facial ageing — wanting to rebuild structural support rather than add volume
  • Want long-lasting results (up to 2 years) from a single course
  • Prefer a gradual, natural improvement over an immediately visible but potentially obvious change

Juläine cannot be reversed — PLLA biostimulators cannot be dissolved with an enzyme. The PLLA biodegrades naturally over time. Conservative dosing and experienced clinical assessment are essential. Juläine should only be administered by a clinician with detailed knowledge of facial anatomy.

Deliverable

Results and What to Expect

Juläine works progressively — this is a deliberate clinical feature, not a limitation. Clients should expect:

  • Weeks 1–4: Mild swelling at injection sites resolves. No visible change yet — PLLA microspheres are stimulating fibroblast activity beneath the surface
  • Weeks 4–8: Initial collagen formation becomes visible as subtle improvement in skin firmness and quality
  • Months 2–4: Progressive volume restoration and structural improvement as new collagen matures
  • Months 4–6+: Full result visible — natural-looking volume and firmness that represents your own collagen, not a product
  • Results typically last up to 2 years

Gentle massage of treated areas is recommended in the days following treatment to support even distribution.

04

Difference

Juläine vs Hyaluronic Acid Fillers

Traditional hyaluronic acid fillers work by physical displacement — placing a gel that immediately adds volume. The volume is the product; when the product degrades, the volume disappears. Juläine works by biological induction — placing microspheres that signal your cells to produce collagen. The volume that develops is your own collagen, and when the PLLA has fully biodegraded, the collagen remains.

Mechanism

Juläine: collagen stimulation via PLLA biostimulation. HA filler: direct volume addition via gel.

Result onset

Juläine: gradual — 4–12 weeks. HA filler: immediate.

Volume source

Juläine: your own collagen. HA filler: the product itself.

Duration

Juläine: up to 2 years. HA filler: 6–18 months.

Appearance

Juläine: progressive, natural. HA filler: immediate, and can appear 'filled' if not carefully placed.

Reversibility

Juläine: not reversible — biodegrades naturally over time. HA filler: can be dissolved with an enzyme.

05

Questions

Common Questions

How soon will I see results?

Juläine works progressively — the first visible improvements typically emerge at 4–8 weeks, with the full result developing over 3–6 months. This is a deliberate feature of the treatment, not a limitation: the gradual nature of the improvement is what makes the result look natural.

Is Juläine the same as Sculptra?

Both are PLLA-based biostimulators. Juläine is a next-generation PLLA formulation developed by Nordberg Medical in Sweden, with refined microsphere technology designed for smoother integration and more predictable results. Your clinician can discuss the specific differences if relevant to your situation.

Can Juläine be reversed?

No. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, PLLA biostimulators cannot be dissolved with an enzyme. The PLLA biodegrades naturally over time. This is why thorough clinical assessment and a conservative approach to dosing are important — and why Juläine should only be administered by an experienced clinician with detailed knowledge of facial anatomy.

Is there any downtime?

Mild swelling, redness, and occasional bruising at injection sites for a few days. Gentle massage of the treated areas is recommended in the days following treatment to support even distribution. Many clients return to normal activities within 24–48 hours.

How is this different from Radiesse?

Both are biostimulatory injectables that trigger collagen production. Radiesse (CaHA) provides some immediate volume alongside collagen stimulation — appropriate when both immediate correction and regeneration are needed. Juläine (PLLA) is primarily a progressive biostimulator with no significant immediate volumising effect — better suited to clients wanting gradual natural improvement without an immediate filler effect.

Do I need a consultation before treatment?

Yes. All biostimulatory injectable treatments at EGA begin with a clinical consultation to assess facial anatomy, discuss goals, and determine the appropriate product, volume, and injection technique. This is not optional — Juläine requires careful planning to achieve a natural result.
