What's Covered
Radiesse is a calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) biostimulatory filler — composed of smooth CaHA microspheres (30%) suspended in a biocompatible carboxymethylcellulose gel carrier (70%). FDA-approved and CE-marked, it carries one of the longest clinical safety records of any injectable in aesthetic medicine. Calcium hydroxylapatite is the same mineral compound found naturally in bones and teeth — making it one of the most biocompatible injectable materials available. When injected, Radiesse works in two distinct phases. Phase 1 — Immediate volume correction: the gel carrier provides immediate, natural-looking volume at the injection site — a 1:1 correction, meaning 1ml of product produces approximately 1ml of volume. Phase 2 — Sustained collagen stimulation: as the gel carrier gradually resorbs, the CaHA microspheres remain, acting as a scaffold to which fibroblasts adhere and produce new collagen and elastin continuously for up to 12 months. As the CaHA microspheres themselves biodegrade, the new collagen they have generated persists.
01Face — structural areas
Cheek and midface volume loss, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, jawline definition and jowl reduction, chin projection and lower face structure, and temple hollowing.
02Neck and décolletage
In hyperdiluted form (diluted with saline or a local anaesthetic), Radiesse is used as a biostimulatory agent for the neck, décolletage, and jawline — improving skin quality, laxity, and collagen density in areas where conventional fillers are less appropriate.
03Hands
Radiesse is FDA-approved for hand rejuvenation — restoring volume to the dorsum of the hands where skin thinning and vein prominence develop with age.
04Hyperdilute Radiesse — biostimulation protocol
When diluted to a higher water content (typically 1:2 or 1:3 with saline or a local anaesthetic), Radiesse loses its volumising property and acts purely as a biostimulatory agent — injected superficially across a broad area for diffuse collagen production without adding structural volume. Used for overall skin quality and laxity in the lower face and neck, décolletage rejuvenation, and body skin tightening (arms, abdomen, inner thighs, knees). Your clinician will discuss whether the standard or hyperdilute protocol is most appropriate.
05Session packages
1 vial: £••• · 2 sessions: £••• (£••• per session) · 3 sessions: £•,••• (£••• per session) · 4 sessions: £•,••• (£••• per session). The number of vials and sessions depends on the area being treated and the degree of volume loss or skin laxity — your clinician will advise at consultation.
Total duration of results: typically 12–18 months. Some patients experience longer-lasting results, particularly following a course of sessions.

Audience
Who It's For
Radiesse is well-suited to clients needing both volume correction and collagen stimulation.
- Facial volume loss — midface, cheeks, temples, jawline — wanting both immediate correction and long-term collagen stimulation
- Natural-looking structural improvement rather than a purely volumising approach
- Collagen-depleted skin — laxity, thinning, poor structural support — needing regenerative stimulation alongside correction
- Neck, décolletage, or hand rejuvenation using a biostimulatory approach
- Previously had HA fillers and want a treatment with a longer-lasting collagen component
- Body skin tightening (arms, abdomen, inner thighs, knees) via hyperdilute protocol
Radiesse cannot be dissolved — calcium hydroxylapatite cannot be reversed with a dissolving enzyme. It biodegrades naturally over 12–18 months. Careful technique and appropriate patient selection are essential. Radiesse should only be administered by an experienced clinician with thorough knowledge of facial anatomy.

Deliverable
Results and What to Expect
Radiesse delivers an immediate and progressive result:
- Immediately: Natural volume correction at the treatment site
- Weeks 2–8: Progressive collagen formation begins; skin quality and firmness improve alongside the immediate volumising effect
- Months 3–6: Full collagen integration visible; results at their most defined
- Months 12–18: Results maintained as collagen persists; CaHA microspheres have fully biodegraded
- Mild swelling, redness, and occasional bruising for 1–3 days post-treatment

Difference
Radiesse vs Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Radiesse and HA fillers serve different clinical purposes — Radiesse is the appropriate choice when collagen stimulation and structural support are the primary need.
Composition
Radiesse: calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres + CMC gel carrier. HA filler: hyaluronic acid gel.
Collagen stimulation
Radiesse: sustained collagen induction for up to 12 months. HA filler: minimal.
Duration
Radiesse: typically 12–18 months. HA filler: 6–18 months depending on product.
Texture in tissue
Radiesse: firmer, more structured — well-suited to structural areas and collagen-depleted tissue. HA: softer, more malleable — better for soft tissue, lips, and fine lines.
Reversibility
Radiesse cannot be dissolved — biodegrades naturally over 12–18 months. HA fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme. This makes experienced clinical technique and patient selection particularly important for Radiesse.

Questions
Common Questions
How does Radiesse differ from Juläine?
Both are biostimulatory injectables, but with different compositions and behaviours. Radiesse (CaHA) provides immediate volume alongside collagen stimulation — making it the appropriate choice when both immediate correction and regeneration are needed. Juläine (PLLA) provides no significant immediate volume but produces a progressive collagen response over months — better suited to clients who want gradual natural improvement without any immediate filler effect. Your clinician will advise on which is most appropriate for your facial anatomy and goals.
Can Radiesse be dissolved?
No — unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, calcium hydroxylapatite cannot be dissolved with an enzyme. It biodegrades naturally over 12–18 months. This makes careful technique and appropriate patient selection important. Radiesse should only be administered by an experienced clinician with thorough knowledge of facial anatomy.
Is there any downtime?
Mild swelling, redness, and occasional bruising at injection sites for 1–3 days. Avoiding intense exercise, heat exposure, and alcohol for 24 hours post-treatment is advised. Many clients return to normal activities the same day.
Is Radiesse safe for all skin tones?
Yes. Radiesse is safe and effective across all Fitzpatrick skin types when administered by an experienced clinician.
How many vials and sessions do I need?
This depends on the area being treated and the degree of volume loss or skin laxity. A course of 2–3 sessions is common for clients wanting to build an optimal collagen response over time. Your clinician will advise on the appropriate treatment plan at consultation.
Can Radiesse be used on the body as well as the face?
Yes. In hyperdilute form, Radiesse is used for skin quality and laxity improvement across the neck, décolletage, and body — including arms, abdomen, inner thighs, and knees. Please discuss your specific concerns with your clinician.
Do I need a consultation before treatment?
Yes. All injectable treatments at EGA begin with a clinical consultation to assess your anatomy, discuss your goals, and determine the appropriate product, volume, and technique. This applies to all biostimulatory injectables.
