What's Covered

LaseMD Ultra by Lutronic is a non-ablative fractional thulium laser operating at a 1927nm wavelength — with a specific affinity for the water in the superficial layers of the skin. Unlike ablative lasers, which remove the outer skin entirely, LaseMD Ultra creates thousands of microscopic thermal channels through the skin's surface while leaving surrounding tissue and the skin barrier largely intact. The thermal microchannels serve two purposes simultaneously. First, laser-stimulated collagen renewal: the controlled thermal injury triggers the skin's wound-healing response — activating fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin, improving skin texture, firmness, and tone progressively over the weeks following treatment. Second, Laser-Assisted Drug Delivery (LADD): the microchannels allow active ingredients applied immediately after the laser pass to penetrate far more effectively than topical application alone (according to the manufacturer), reaching the dermal-epidermal junction where topical application alone cannot reach. The laser opens the door; the ampoule determines what walks through it.

01The ampoule system — VA/VC and RS/TA

VA/VC Ampoule (Vitamin A + Vitamin C): Vitamin A promotes cellular turnover, regulates sebum, and accelerates skin cell renewal — used for acne management and texture improvement. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant and collagen synthesis cofactor, brightening skin tone and protecting against oxidative damage. Used in the Acne and Brightening protocols. RS/TA Ampoule (Resveratrol + Tranexamic Acid): Resveratrol is a high-purity polyphenol antioxidant protecting against UV-induced photoageing and free radical damage at the cellular level. Tranexamic Acid is one of the most clinically established ingredients for targeting melanin overproduction — reducing dark spots, post-inflammatory pigmentation, and uneven tone. Used in the Anti-Pigmentation and Anti-Ageing protocols.

02Face / Neck / Hands Skin Rejuvenation — £••• · 3 sessions £•••

Laser-only treatment for general skin rejuvenation — improving texture, radiance, and early fine lines across the face, neck, or hands. The foundational LaseMD treatment without a targeted ampoule. Suitable as a standalone resurfacing treatment or as preparation before an ampoule session.

03Acne Treatment — £••• · 3 sessions £•••

LaseMD laser + VA/VC ampoule (Vitamin A + Vitamin C). The fractional laser reduces sebaceous gland activity and creates microchannels through which Vitamin A penetrates to regulate sebum production, accelerate cell turnover, and address comedone formation underlying active acne. Vitamin C supports healing and reduces post-inflammatory redness. Appropriate for active acne, congested skin, and enlarged pores.

04Brightening Treatment — £••• · 3 sessions £•••

LaseMD laser + VA/VC ampoule, focusing on dull, uneven, or tired skin rather than active acne. Vitamin C's antioxidant and collagen-stimulating activity combined with Vitamin A's cell renewal effect produces progressive improvement in radiance, tone, and overall skin luminosity. Appropriate for dull, uneven, sun-damaged, or lacklustre skin without significant active breakouts.

05Anti-Pigmentation Treatment — £••• · 3 sessions £•••

LaseMD laser + RS/TA ampoule (Resveratrol + Tranexamic Acid). Tranexamic Acid delivered via the laser's microchannels directly inhibits the melanin production pathway — addressing dark spots, sun-induced pigmentation, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and melasma at a depth and concentration that topical application alone cannot achieve. Resveratrol provides additional antioxidant protection against the UV-driven pigmentation cycle.

06Anti-Ageing Treatment — £••• · 3 sessions £•••

LaseMD laser + RS/TA ampoule. Resveratrol — with its notable antioxidant potency — addresses the oxidative damage that drives photoageing: fine lines, loss of skin density, and the overall signs of UV-accumulated cellular damage. Tranexamic Acid supports an even, refined skin tone. Appropriate for clients with sun damage, fine lines, and early skin ageing wanting a protective and restorative approach.

A course of 3 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results across all protocols. VISIA Complexion Analysis is included with every treatment session.

Deliverable

Results and What to Expect

Before treatment, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied for 20–30 minutes. The handpiece is then passed over the area in approximately 20–30 minutes — many clients describe mild warmth and a prickling sensation. Immediately after, the ampoule is applied through the microchannels.

  • Days 1–3: Mild redness and light flaking or peeling as the microchannels heal. Many clients return to normal activities the same day or the following day
  • Weeks 2–6: Progressive improvement in skin texture, tone, and the specific concern targeted by the ampoule
  • After a full course of 3 sessions: Significant improvement, continuing to develop as collagen remodelling matures
  • VISIA before-and-after imaging tracks objective change across sessions

04

Difference

Why LaseMD vs Ablative Laser, Chemical Peel, or Microneedling

Traditional ablative lasers (CO₂, Er:YAG) remove the entire outer skin layer — producing significant results but also 1–2 weeks of redness, peeling, and social recovery. LaseMD Ultra's non-ablative fractional approach creates only microscopic thermal channels, delivering meaningful clinical improvement with 1–3 days of mild redness rather than 1–2 weeks of visible recovery.

Non-ablative — minimal downtime

1–3 days mild redness and flaking versus 1–2 weeks for ablative CO₂ or Er:YAG lasers. Many clients return to normal activities the same day or the following day.

Well-tolerated across all skin tones

Suitable for Fitzpatrick IV–VI which carry elevated PIH risk with more aggressive lasers. Can be used safely year-round — unlike some laser treatments that carry increased risk in summer months.

Laser-Assisted Drug Delivery (LADD)

Much greater absorption of active ingredients than topical application alone (according to the manufacturer) — reaching the dermal-epidermal junction where topical application alone cannot reach. Neither chemical peels nor microneedling combine laser collagen stimulation with this level of precision ingredient delivery in a single pass.

Ampoule customisation

VA/VC for acne and brightening. RS/TA for pigmentation and anti-ageing. The protocol is matched to the concern — not a one-size treatment.

VISIA included

Every treatment begins with VISIA Complexion Analysis — objective imaging that guides protocol selection and provides a measurable before-and-after reference across sessions.

05

Questions

Common Questions

What is the difference between the treatments — they all use the same laser?

Yes — all LaseMD protocols use the same 1927nm thulium laser. The differentiation is the ampoule applied after the laser pass. The laser creates the microchannels; the ampoule determines what those microchannels deliver. VA/VC (Vitamin A + Vitamin C) targets acne regulation and brightening. RS/TA (Resveratrol + Tranexamic Acid) targets pigmentation and photoageing. No ampoule gives general resurfacing and collagen stimulation.

Is LaseMD safe for darker skin tones?

Yes. LaseMD Ultra's non-ablative fractional approach makes it one of the well-tolerated laser options for darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV–VI), which carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation with more aggressive laser modalities. The treatment can also be performed year-round.

How is this different from a chemical peel or microneedling?

Chemical peels resurface through chemical exfoliation — effective but less controlled in penetration depth and without active ingredient delivery via microchannels. Microneedling creates physical channels for ingredient delivery but without the simultaneous thermal collagen stimulation of laser energy. LaseMD combines laser-stimulated collagen renewal with precision active ingredient delivery in a single pass — a clinical capability neither approach provides alone.

Is the treatment painful?

Topical anaesthetic is applied before treatment. Many clients describe mild warmth and a prickling sensation during the laser pass. The treatment is well-tolerated.

Is there any downtime?

Mild redness and light flaking for 1–3 days. The majority of clients return to work and social activities the same day or the following day — significantly less downtime than ablative laser treatments.

How many sessions do I need?

A course of 3 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart is recommended for all protocols. Results accumulate across the course, with the full improvement visible approximately 4–6 weeks after the final session.

Can LaseMD be combined with other treatments?

Yes. LaseMD combines well with PRP, PDRN, Profhilo, and HIFU as part of a comprehensive skin programme. Laser treatments are typically separated from injectable regenerative treatments by at least 2 weeks — your clinician will advise on optimal sequencing.
