What's Covered
Hair follicles are living structures that respond to growth factors. The growth factors concentrated in PRP have well-documented effects on follicle biology — reactivating dormant follicles and extending the active growth phase. PRP scalp treatment is commonly used for androgenetic alopecia (male and female pattern hair loss), diffuse hair thinning, telogen effluvium triggered by stress, illness, nutritional deficiency, or hormonal change (including post-partum hair loss), and as post-transplant support to promote graft survival and accelerate regrowth.
01PDGF — dermal papilla stimulation
Directly stimulates dermal papilla cells — the cells at the base of the follicle that govern the hair growth cycle — promoting transition from telogen (resting) back into anagen (active growth).
02VEGF — vascularisation
Promotes new blood vessel formation around the follicle, increasing the nutrient supply required for active hair growth.
03EGF & IGF-1 — follicle cell survival
Support keratinocyte proliferation and follicle cell survival — improving the calibre and health of the hair produced.
04Manual injection (by doctor)
Your clinician injects PRP across the scalp using a fine needle, placing the solution precisely at the level of the hair follicle bulb, targeting the zones of thinning most relevant to your pattern. Manual injection allows the greatest precision in placement and depth — preferred for focal or patterned thinning and for clients who want full clinician control throughout.
05Meso Gun delivery
The Meso Gun delivers PRP through rapid, uniform micro-injections across the treatment area — covering the scalp more quickly and evenly with consistent depth and spacing. Well-suited to diffuse, generalised thinning across a broad area, and many clients find it more comfortable for large treatment zones. The clinical result is equivalent; the choice comes down to your pattern of hair loss and personal preference.
06HA or Exosome Upgrade (+£••)
HA version combines PRP with high-concentration hyaluronic acid for additional scalp hydration and a supportive scaffold within the scalp tissue alongside the regenerative growth factor effect — particularly useful where a dry or compromised scalp environment is contributing to follicle stress. Exosome version uses stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles delivering a more advanced biological signal for follicle stimulation.
Total treatment time: approximately 45–60 minutes. A course of 3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is standard.

Audience
Who It's For
PRP scalp treatment works well when viable hair follicles are still present — dormant or miniaturised, but not permanently lost.
- Androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern hair loss) at early to moderate stage
- Diffuse hair thinning — general reduction in hair density and calibre across the scalp
- Recovering from telogen effluvium triggered by stress, illness, nutritional deficiency, hormonal change, or post-partum hair loss
- Recently noticed increased shedding and want to intervene before significant follicle miniaturisation
- Post hair transplant — to support graft survival and accelerate regrowth
- Want a needle-based regenerative approach using your own biology alongside or instead of pharmacological treatment
PRP is less effective for long-standing hair loss where follicles have been significantly miniaturised over many years, and is not appropriate for scarring alopecias (such as lichen planopilaris or frontal fibrosing alopecia) where the follicle has been permanently destroyed.

Deliverable
Results and What to Expect
Hair regrowth following PRP develops progressively:
- Weeks 4–8: Reduction in hair shedding is typically the first sign of response
- Months 2–3: Improved hair calibre and early new growth in treated areas
- Months 4–6: Increased hair density and visible improvement in coverage
- After a course of 3 sessions: Cumulative results substantially greater than a single session
- Maintenance sessions every 6–12 months sustain the results
Hair loss often has contributing factors that, if unaddressed, limit the durability of results — iron deficiency, thyroid dysfunction, hormonal imbalance. EGA's clinical infrastructure allows these to be assessed and addressed through targeted blood testing alongside your PRP programme.
04
Difference
The Regen Lab Difference
For scalp treatment, the purity of the preparation matters. Red blood cell contamination produces local inflammation that can counteract the regenerative growth factor signal.
Ultra-pure preparation
According to the manufacturer, less than 1% red blood cell contamination, compared with higher levels in many other systems — aiming to deliver growth factors with less inflammation.
2–4× platelet concentration
Regen Lab's thixotropic gel separation produces 2–4× normal platelet levels — a genuinely concentrated growth factor payload reaching the dermal papilla directly.
Choice of delivery method
Manual injection by doctor for precision, or Meso Gun for diffuse coverage. Your clinician will advise based on your hair loss pattern.
Integrated with diagnostics
EGA can identify and address underlying drivers of hair loss — iron, thyroid, hormonal markers — alongside PRP through targeted blood testing.
Upgrade pathway
HA or Exosome upgrades available (+£••) for clients wanting a more intensive follicle stimulation signal.
05
Questions
Common Questions
What is the difference between manual injection and Meso Gun?
Both deliver the same Regen Lab Ultra-Pure PRP to the same depth in the scalp. Manual injection allows maximum precision for focal or patterned thinning. The Meso Gun delivers rapid, uniform micro-injections suited to diffuse thinning across a broad area, and is generally faster and more comfortable for large treatment zones. Your clinician will recommend the appropriate method for your pattern.
Can I change delivery method between sessions?
Yes. You can discuss this with your clinician at each appointment. Some clients begin with the Meso Gun for initial sessions and switch to manual injection for targeted areas once overall density has improved.
Can PRP regrow hair that has already been lost?
PRP stimulates dormant follicles that are still present but miniaturised. It cannot regenerate follicles that have been permanently destroyed. Stronger results are seen in people with recent or ongoing thinning where viable follicles remain.
How does PRP compare to medicines for hair loss?
PRP and pharmacological treatments work through different mechanisms and can be used together. Many clients combine PRP with topical or oral treatments for a more comprehensive approach.
Is there any downtime?
Minimal. Some scalp tenderness for 24–48 hours. Avoiding vigorous exercise, heat exposure, and certain hair products for 48 hours post-treatment is advised.
Do I need blood tests before starting?
Not as a prerequisite. EGA recommends blood testing to identify underlying causes — iron, thyroid, hormonal markers — that should be addressed alongside the PRP programme.
