What's Covered
The EGA Advanced GP Consultation is a full one-hour appointment — the extended clinical format for patients whose health picture requires more than a standard consultation can deliver.
01Complex or multi-system presentations
If you have symptoms affecting more than one system or a diagnostic picture that has not been adequately explained, an hour allows for a detailed history, examination, and systematic review of the differential picture.
02Ongoing or chronic health concerns
For managing chronic conditions or complex medication regimens, the Advanced consultation provides the time to review your current position properly and consider whether management is optimal.
03Comprehensive health review
For patients wanting a thorough medical review covering multiple areas of health, identifying gaps, and receiving an integrated clinical assessment.
04Medication reviews
Reviewing a complex medication list, assessing appropriateness, or considering de-escalation requires clinical depth achievable only in an extended consultation.
05Integration of multi-source results
Making clinical sense of results from the NHS, previous private clinics, and self-ordered tests takes time. We identify what is significant and what the combined picture suggests.
06Pre-assessment for specialist testing
If you are preparing for a comprehensive longevity assessment or specialist panel and want a senior clinical review of your full health picture first.
For straightforward single-issue presentations, the GP Essential consultation (30 minutes) is the appropriate choice.

Difference
Why Time Matters
Time is not a luxury in clinical medicine; it is a diagnostic tool. Rushing complex cases risks missing the picture.
Diagnostic depth
A doctor with an hour will take a different history and notice connections that are invisible in a 10-minute slot. Fatigue combined with weight gain and mood changes requires space to explore properly.
Longevity-informed approach
EGA GPs assess you through the lens of trajectory — what today's data means for your risk over 10–20 years, and what interventions can meaningfully change that trajectory.
Integrated care coordination
Investigations, prescriptions, and referrals are coordinated within one consultation rather than sequenced across several shorter appointments.

Questions
Common Questions
What is the difference between the Essential and Advanced consultations?
Time and scope. Essential (30 mins) is for a specific, defined concern. Advanced (1 hour) is for complex presentations, multi-system concerns, or cases where the history needs to be properly understood first.
Can I upgrade from Essential to Advanced at the appointment?
If your consultation reveals more time is needed, your doctor will advise if it's possible to extend, subject to availability. We recommend booking Advanced if your concerns are complex.
Can I see the same doctor for follow-up appointments?
Yes. Continuity of care is a priority at EGA. We encourage patients with ongoing concerns to see the same clinician for follow-up wherever possible.
Will my NHS GP be informed of my consultation?
Only with your explicit consent. If you would like a clinical summary shared, your doctor can arrange this. Your NHS records remain separate otherwise.
Can a private GP refer me to NHS specialists?
Yes. Private GPs can refer patients into NHS secondary care through the e-Referral System, or to private consultants directly.
I have results from several different sources. Can you make sense of them?
Yes. Synthesising results from multiple sources — NHS, private clinics, imaging reports — is a specific strength of the Advanced consultation format.
What should I bring?
All relevant medical records, letters, and test results you have, and a list of current medications and supplements.
Is this available as a follow-up after a Longevity Assessment?
Yes. For patients who have completed a Longevity Assessment and want an extended GP-level review of their results and overall health picture.
