Panel

What's Covered

The EGA Basic Health panel analyses around 40 biomarkers across eight critical health areas. This is not a single-marker test or a basic wellness check — it is a structured, clinical-grade screen designed to give you a meaningful picture of your health today.

01Full Blood Count

Red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, haemoglobin, haematocrit, MCV, MCH, MCHC, neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils. Your blood count is the foundation of any serious health assessment. It reveals immune function, oxygen-carrying capacity, clotting ability, and signs of infection, anaemia, or blood disorders — many of which cause no symptoms in their early stages.

02Iron & Anaemia Markers

Iron, ferritin, transferrin, TIBC (total iron binding capacity), transferrin saturation. Iron deficiency is one of the most common nutritional problems in the UK — and one of the most frequently missed. Ferritin, the storage form of iron, can be depleted for months or years before standard haemoglobin levels fall. If you experience fatigue, brain fog, or poor exercise recovery, iron status is often the first place to look.

03Cholesterol & Cardiovascular Risk

Total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, total cholesterol/HDL ratio. A standard NHS cholesterol check typically measures three or four numbers. This panel includes the full lipid profile plus the cholesterol/HDL ratio — a more accurate predictor of cardiovascular risk than total cholesterol alone.

04Blood Sugar & Metabolic Health

Glucose, HbA1c. HbA1c reflects your average blood sugar over the past two to three months — a far more reliable indicator of metabolic health than a single fasting glucose reading. Pre-diabetic patterns often persist for years before any symptoms appear, and early detection is when intervention is most effective.

05Kidney Function

Creatinine, eGFR (estimated glomerular filtration rate), urea. Your kidneys filter around 200 litres of blood every day. Declining kidney function is frequently asymptomatic until it is significantly advanced. eGFR is the key marker of filtration efficiency — and it is rarely tested in routine GP appointments unless there is already a known concern.

06Electrolytes & Minerals

Calcium (adjusted), chloride, magnesium, phosphate, potassium, sodium. Electrolyte imbalances affect nerve conduction, muscle function, hydration, and heart rhythm. Magnesium deficiency in particular is extremely common and strongly associated with fatigue, poor sleep, muscle cramps, and anxiety — yet it is almost never tested in standard NHS blood panels.

07Liver Function

ALT, ALP, AST, GGT, total bilirubin, albumin. A full liver panel assessing six markers of liver health — covering inflammation, cellular damage, bile duct function, and synthetic capacity. GGT is a particularly sensitive early marker of liver stress from alcohol, medication, or metabolic strain.

08Vitamins & Nutrients

Vitamin D, vitamin B12, folic acid, zinc. Public Health England estimates that around 1 in 5 adults in the UK have low vitamin D levels. B12 deficiency — particularly common in people over 50, vegetarians, and those on certain medications — can cause neurological symptoms, fatigue, and mood changes that are often misattributed to other causes. Zinc deficiency affects immune function, wound healing, and hormonal balance.

09Inflammation

High sensitivity CRP (hsCRP), CRP. Chronic low-grade inflammation is now understood to be a primary driver of most major age-related diseases — cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, dementia, and cancer. hsCRP is one of the most sensitive available blood markers for detecting this inflammation before it causes damage.

Audience

Who It's For

The EGA Basic Health panel is right for you if you:

  • Want a thorough, clinician-reviewed health baseline for the first time
  • Have never had a private blood test and want to understand where your health stands
  • Feel generally well but want data to confirm it — or catch anything that isn't
  • Are starting a new health, fitness, or nutrition programme and want an objective starting point
  • Have had NHS blood tests but want something more thorough and faster
  • Are concerned about energy levels, sleep quality, weight changes, or mood and want answers

No referral needed. No waiting list.

Deliverable

Your Report

At EGA, we provide a clinician-reviewed PDF that includes:

  • Your results for all 38 biomarkers, clearly presented
  • A doctor's written commentary on any markers outside optimal range
  • Plain-language explanations of what each result means for your health
  • Prioritised observations — so you know what matters most
  • Recommendations for next steps, further investigation, or lifestyle changes where relevant

This is not an automated algorithm generating generic commentary. It is a document produced by a medical professional who has reviewed your individual results in full.

04

Difference

Why EGA Goes Further

A standard NHS or GP blood panel typically covers 10–15 markers and is ordered reactively — when something is already wrong. The EGA Basic Health panel covers 38 markers, ordered proactively, with results interpreted through a longevity lens rather than a disease-diagnosis lens.

More markers

A GP check rarely includes hsCRP, magnesium, zinc, ferritin, or HbA1c unless there is already a specific concern. These markers frequently reveal subclinical issues that, left unaddressed, become clinical ones.

Faster results

NHS blood test waiting times can extend to several weeks. Your EGA results are with you.

Clinician-reviewed report, not just numbers

Your results are reviewed by a doctor and returned as a structured report with written commentary — not a table of figures for you to interpret alone.

Longevity context

We do not just tell you whether you are 'in range.' We interpret your results in the context of optimal health and long-term wellbeing.

Optional Longevity Plan

If your results indicate areas for improvement, you can choose to add a personalised EGA Longevity Plan — a bespoke protocol developed by our clinicians. Available as a separate service.

Questions

Common Questions

Do I need to fast before my blood test?

Yes. We recommend fasting for 10–12 hours before your appointment (water is fine). Fasting ensures accurate readings for glucose, HbA1c, triglycerides, and iron markers. Please take any regular medications as usual unless your doctor has advised otherwise.

Do I need a GP referral?

No referral is needed. You can book directly online or by phone.

How long do results take?

Your full EGA report is delivered shortly after your blood draw. Your clinician will confirm an estimated turnaround when you book.

What format are my results delivered in?

You receive a proprietary EGA PDF report with doctor commentary — not just a raw data sheet. This can be shared with your NHS GP or any other healthcare provider.

Is this the same test my GP does?

No. A standard GP panel typically covers 10–15 markers and is ordered when symptoms are already present. The EGA Basic Health panel covers 38 markers, is ordered proactively, and is interpreted from a longevity and optimisation perspective.

Is my data secure?

Yes. All personal and health data is stored and processed in compliance with UK GDPR. Your results are never shared with third parties without your explicit consent.

What happens if something abnormal is found?

Any result outside normal or optimal range will be clearly highlighted in your report with a doctor's commentary explaining the finding and recommended next steps. Where clinically appropriate, our team will contact you directly.

Can I upgrade to a more comprehensive panel?

Yes. The EGA Basic Health panel is the entry point in our biomarker analysis range. The EGA Advanced (£•••) and EGA Flagship (£•••) panels offer significantly broader coverage.

Is this test suitable if I'm on medication?

Yes, in most cases. Please inform us of any medications you are taking at the time of booking. Some medications can affect certain markers, and our team will note this in the interpretation of your results.
